I recently shared an Amazon dress “try on” on my Instagram stories, and I wanted to provide more details here. Like most things in life….some are winners….some are fails. But just because something failed for me, does not mean it couldn’t be the perfect dress for you. Keep in mind, I am petite at 5 feet tall.

Dress 1:

I spent fall and winter wearing all the animal print I could find. I’m always on the look out for cute pieces to carry this trend into the warmer months. This dress comes in a black with white print.

The pros….This dress is cute. I love the print. I am loving the pink and leopard together. It is also really comfortable, so it could be a good work from home dress

The cons…This dress runs really big. I am wearing a small here. I am typically an XS, but with Amazon sizing and many brands not offering a XS, I often purchase the small size and it works fine. With this dress, this is not the case. This leopard dress is meant to be a little oversized and flowy, but the style is really not working with my frame. I would say go with your normal size or size down, depending on how you want the dress to fit.

Dress 2:

I love yellow, I love ruffles….so there was no reason for me to think this dress would not be a winner (plus is comes from an Amazon seller I really like). This dress only comes in yellow. I’m not sure where I would wear this dress right now, since I am still in my “stay home” phase, but I had visions of me wearing it on a date night while drinking wine and enjoying life….

Anyways…

The pros.…the idea of this dress is good. Yellow, ruffles, one shoulder. Yellow is one of my favorite colors, especially for summer. Looking at the picture of me on the left, it is difficult to see any “issues”…it is “cute”, but still not a winner.

The cons… though the idea was good, it was executed poorly. My biggest complaint is that the dress is pretty sheer. I am wearing nude undergarments here. You could maybe also wear a nude strapless slip, if you really wanted to make this dress work. The dress zips on the side, and it was a little big on me. I am wearing a small (and am typically an XS), so I do think the dress is true to size. The belt is attached weirdly to the dress. It is hard to explain, but it has one long piece attached to the right side, and another piece attached to the left. I did a wrap around the back, bring back to the front, tie to the side maneuver. I think it would have worked better if the belt was one piece instead of two.

I don’t typically wear sheer clothes, so this one is going back.

Dress 3:

This dress comes in 3 other print options. The other 3 options are gorgeous floral prints, but I decided to go with this more neutral option. The color is a sage green, and very pretty for spring and summer. I was initially drawn to it because of the boho vibes and puff sleeves.

The pros… the dress is a good fit, and though it is not lined it is still not see through. I am wearing a small, and it is not too big. The waist is stretchy, so I think it would fit a true small as well. The puff sleeves are adorable and my favorite part of the dress. It has an open back that is really cute and a fun added detail. The fabric is like a Swiss dot (that’s what they call it, right?). This dress can be worn for any occasion….dress down with flats or dress up with cute wedges or heels. Sky’s the limit on this versatile dress.

The cons…I don’t have too many cons for this dress. I am not sure if this color is the best on me. Maybe I just need a better tan??? The front bodice area looks like it can be adjusted and tighten, but it cannot. The front tie is just for show. Since I am smaller in the chest, this area is a little saggy on me…but I think the dress still works.

Dress 4:

It comes in 5 color options, including a solid black one. The dress would be perfect for a brunch with friends or can even be worn to work. The buttons are not functional, just decorative and the belt is removable. The dress zips up the back.

The pros….this dress is made out of sturdy material, no worries about being able to see though this one. It has pockets which automatically adds 10 cool points to any dress. Plus, I always need a place to store my snacks. The fit is pretty good. I am wearing a small, and it fits as expected. The v-neck is sewn together, so there is no risk of a wardrobe malfunction (well, I guess those are always possible…but it is lower risk here). Overall, it is a really cute dress and really versatile.

The cons. I really can’t think of any obvious issues with this dress. Maybe it would be cuter if the buttons were functional, not that functional buttons are even needed for the dress…so I am grasping at straws here.

Skirt 5:

Sorry, no pics of me wearing this skirt…but it was not a good look on me and I forgot to take photos. Check my Instagram stories if you are really dying to see! It will be in the “May try on” highlight.

The pros…White is a perfect color for summer and I did like the gauzy like material.

The cons.…This skirt is part of the Amazon drop collection, which I have found runs big. This time it definitely did not. I am only 5 feet tall, and this skirt was super short on me. There was no way I was going to get away with wearing this without showing my booty. To save my family from embarrassment…I will be returning. If you really, really love, I suggest sizing up.

Dress 6:

Saving the best for last! I already own a long version of this dress…just in a different color (and come to find out, also different fabric), so I was pretty certain this one would be a winner. I love a good off shoulder style for summer…I just need to get a little more color on these shoulders before I can really start showing them off 🙂

The bodice area is stretchy, so you can go up / down a size and probably still be ok. I am wearing a small and the fits is almost perfect.

The pros…The print is great, the length is great, and the fit is great. It is a really cute dress that can be dressed up or down. The bodice is stretchy, so you can eat a big dinner, and not worry about feeling like you are about to bust out of it. The same with the sleeves…they are stretchy, so you can flex your muscles all you want. Show them what you’re made of ladies!

The cons…not too many that come to mind. If you are super tall, it could be short on you. Some people have a hard time with off shoulder styles…so that could be a con??? But over all, this is pretty much a con-free dress!

Alright…that’s all I got! Thanks for reading!
